The Time of Your Life est une pièce en cinq actes de 1939 du dramaturge américain William Saroyan. La pièce est la première à remporter à la fois le Prix Pulitzer de théâtre et le New York Drama Critics Circle Award. La pièce a été créée à Broadway en par la Theatre Guild.
La pièce se déroule dans le Pacific Street Saloon de Nick, un restaurant et un lieu de divertissementa, un bar de plongée délabré à San Francisco. Une grande partie de l'action de la pièce est centrée sur Joe, un jeune fainéant avec de l'argent qui encourage chacun des clients du bar dans leurs excentricités. Joe aide un futur danseur, Harry, et installe son laquais, Tom, avec une prostituée, Kitty Duval. Le bar est fréquenté par un certain nombre de personnages colorés, dont un jeune homme frénétique amoureux, un vieil homme qui ressemble à Kit Carson et un couple de la haute société.

La pièce a été produite par la Theatre Guild. Il a été créé à Broadway au Booth Theatre le 25 octobre 1939 et a fermé le 27 janvier 1940 et rouvert au Guild Theatre du 29 janvier 1940 au 6 avril 1940 et du 23 septembre 1940 au 19 octobre 1940, pour 249 représentations. La mise en scène était d'Eddie Dowling, qui a joué aussi Joe et William Saroyan. Le casting comprenait Julie Haydon (Kitty Duval), Celeste Holm (Mary L.), Charles De Sheim (Nick) et Gene Kelly (Harry).
The Time of Your Life a été repris trois fois à Broadway: en 1940 avec Dowling et Saroyan à nouveau à la mise en scène, puis en 1969 sous la direction de John Hirsch et en 1975 sous la direction de Jack O'Brien. La pièce a enfin été reprise le 17 mars 1972 au Huntington Hartford Theatre de Los Angeles où Henry Fonda, Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Thompson, Gloria Grahame, Strother Martin, Jane Alexander, Richard X. Slattery et Pepper Martin faisaient partie de la distributiondans une mise en scène d'Edwin Sherin.
